Image Compression from Scratch
I implemented a few different image compression algorithms using principal component analysis (PCA) and independent component analysis (ICA), and evaluated them against a standard implementation of the JPEG compression algorithm on a set of B&W images. For more details on the implementation and results please take a look at the report. The project was primarily concerned with the mathematics underlying these algorithms, but provided some needed practice in the rudiments of NumPy.
